LAS VEGAS – Tuesday afternoon, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a killing near the downtown Arts District.
The homicide was reported in the 100 block of W. Wyoming Ave. near Main Street, according to LVMPD.
According to Lt. Jason Johanssen, officers responded to a shooting incident inside a business – described only as a tow firm – at roughly 10:58 a.m. and discovered a Hispanic male in his 40s with a gunshot wound.
The victim was transferred to University Medical Center, where he died as a result of his injuries.
Johanssen stated that the suspect, described as a Black male wearing glasses, a black sweatshirt, and black jeans, had a disagreement with the victim, who was an employee at the shop, before to the shooting. The quarrel centered on an automobile that had been impounded at the business and a disagreement about documentation.
The automobile was not released, and the suspect got into an argument with the employee before pulling out a pistol and shooting him. According to authorities, he escaped westbound on Wyoming Avenue.
Though the suspect remains at large, investigators feel there is no ongoing threat to the public. According to officials, video footage of the incident is being reviewed, and a person of interest is awaiting confirmation.
