LAS VEGAS — A family visiting Las Vegas was critically injured Sunday evening when a vehicle veered onto a sidewalk and struck them near Harmon Avenue and Audrie Lane, according to police. The family of three, including a 2-year-old child in a stroller, suffered serious injuries and were taken to a local hospital, with the child and the mother in life-threatening condition.
The crash occurred after the driver of a 2026 Tesla Model Y struck another vehicle at a red light and then left the roadway, hitting the family as they waited at a crosswalk signal. Witnesses pursued the fleeing driver to a nearby parking lot at Topgolf, where he was detained until police arrived.
Officers arrested the 28-year-old local man on suspicion of DUI, reckless driving, and failure to stop at the scene of an accident. Authorities say signs of impairment were present at the time of the arrest. Investigators with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department continue to gather evidence, and the suspect remains held without bail pending a court date on Feb. 11.
