LAS VEGAS, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe) – Las Vegas police say a 16-year-old fired a 9mm handgun at a crowd on the Fremont Street Experience. He now faces felony charges.
McDonald’s on Fremont Street employed Na’Quintin Norsworthy. After a fight with patrons at the restaurant on December 29, he is said to have fired at least four shots as he ran up 3rd street, according to witnesses.
A McDonald’s customer claimed that when she asked for a receipt, a worker ignored her. She told the police, according to an arrest report, that when she asked to speak with a manager, the employee, whom the police identified as Norsworthy, turned her off.
The woman’s relatives got into a verbal fight with Norsworthy. According to the police report, they tried to stop him as he left the McDonald’s after his shift. Two of the men, according to the 16-year-old, punched him in the head.
The woman “saw the male employee produce a handgun from his backpack and shot several rounds, striking her in the leg,” according to the arrest report.
According to FOX5, a witness named Brandon Wagner, “There was a big pool of blood.” I was afraid she wouldn’t make it.
When Wagner saw the shooting, he was inside a nearby Fremont Street store.
Wagner recalled, “He was running down the road and shooting behind him with his right hand.”
According to police, another stray bullet grazed a bystander and his family while they were watching a band near the 3rd Street stage.
According to the report, “[the victim] heard about four apparent gunshots and immediately felt his right leg go numb and then a sharp pain.”
The teen was located by police overnight and taken into custody the following morning at his residence.
McDonald’s was informed, and it acted right away.
“We are shocked and appalled by the behavior of one of our former crew members. This kind of behavior goes against the values we have as a company and is not tolerated,” McDonald’s USA said in a statement. “This individual is no longer employed in our restaurant. We care deeply about our crew, customers, and communities, and our thoughts continue to be with those impacted by this senseless act of violence.”
Despite being taken to the hospital, the two victims, according to the police, did not sustain any serious injuries.
Six counts of assault with a deadly weapon and minor in possession of a firearm are against the 16-year-old.
Following his arrest, Norsworthy was booked into juvenile court.
