Buckle up, Nevada drivers, because your state might not be the smoothest ride. According to a recent survey by WalletHub, Nevada lands in the bottom ten when it comes to driver-friendliness, leaving many locals wondering, “What’s the holdup?”
The study compared all 50 states across 31 key metrics, from gas prices and traffic congestion to road quality and car dealerships. While Nevada isn’t the worst (Delaware, Washington, and Hawaii claim that dubious honor), its 44th overall ranking suggests there’s room for improvement.
Here’s how the Silver State fared in some key categories, with 1st being the best and 50th the worst:
- Overall: 44th
- Rush-hour traffic: 21st (not bad, but could be better)
- Traffic fatalities: 25th (a relative bright spot)
- Car theft: 46th (yikes, watch your valuables!)
- Auto-repair shops: 39th (finding a mechanic might be a bumpy ride)
- Gas prices: 47th (ouch, that hurts at the pump)
- Road quality: 18th (at least the asphalt isn’t the problem)
- Car dealerships: 48th (limited choices for new wheels)
The highest rankings were achieved by Iowa, Georgia, and Kansas, indicating that driving in the Midwest may be smoother. However, don’t lose hope, Nevada! This analysis can guide the state toward improvement. By investing in infrastructure, expanding public transportation options, and taking action against car theft, Nevada can become a more driver-friendly location.
So, Nevada drivers, keep in mind that the next time you go on a trip, exercise extra caution, plan your routes carefully, and perhaps bring along a great playlist to tackle any traffic congestion. And who knows, maybe Nevada will ascend the driver-friendly rankings in the coming year!
