According to FBI internet crime data, Nevada has the worst cybercrime issue in the country.
Nevada ranked highest, with 637 cybercrime victims per 100,000 people, followed by Alaska, Iowa, Florida, and Delaware. Identity theft was the most common cybercrime against Nevada residents, according to the research.
The thirdpartytrust.com research compared states based on cybercrime per capita. Nevada alone had 19,766 cybercrime victims in 2021, ranking first in the survey due to its smaller population than most states. The average number of casualties per state throughout the country is 11,752.
Nevadans lost an astounding $127.8 million to cyber thieves, amounting to roughly $6,500 per victim. There were 40 states with bigger per-victim losses, with North Dakota far ahead of the others at $32,016 per victim. The top five were New York ($21,751 per victim), California ($21,464), Connecticut ($20,616), and Vermont ($18,838).

Metro Sgt. Beth Schmidt said in May that the Financial Crimes Section deals with 400 to 500 cases per month. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has 20 detectives and five civilian investigation professionals on the case.
Schmidt stated that Metro urges victims to report cybercrimes to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center, IC3.
According to IC3, Nevada has the sixth-highest amount of cybercrime victims (17,706), although the rankings do not take population into consideration. California ranks first, with 67,095 casualties in 2021.
