Nevadans Face Reality as Biden’s Student Loan Pause Ends: Nearly 12% in Default, Collections Back in Full Force

After years of kicking the can down the road, reality has finally come knocking. The U.S. Department of Education has restarted collection efforts on overdue student loans — and for Nevada borrowers, the numbers are a wake-up call. Nearly 12% of the state’s student loan holders are now officially in default, a glaring sign of what happens when temporary government handouts end and accountability returns.
Borrowers who fail to make repayment arrangements aren’t just risking bad credit scores; they’re now facing wage garnishments and the seizure of their tax refunds — hard consequences that were conveniently masked during the so-called “pause” in repayments pushed by the Biden administration.
The federal government’s return to collecting what’s owed highlights a fundamental truth: debts don’t disappear just because politicians say so. Personal responsibility matters. And while left-wing activists continue to push for blanket student loan “forgiveness,” hardworking Americans — many of whom never went to college — are already footing the bill.
Nevada’s 12% default rate should be a warning: dependence on federal “relief” programs leads to painful consequences when the music stops. Instead of looking for another government bailout, it’s time to focus on real solutions — like promoting skilled trades, personal financial literacy, and economic freedom — not deeper taxpayer-funded entitlements.
The federal government is clear: those who ignore repayment options will be subject to collection tools including wage garnishments and tax refund seizures. And the rest of the nation? They’ll keep paying for it, one way or another.
