Las Vegas police are investigating a shooting that occurred Thursday evening in the west valley after a person was found with a gunshot wound.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, officers were in the 700 block of South Rampart Boulevard near the Boca Park retail center around 5:30 p.m. conducting follow-up work on a wanted individual. While in the area, officers reported hearing a single gunshot.

Police located a person who had been injured and requested medical assistance. The individual later died from what investigators determined to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
