LAS VEGAS – The National Weather Service forecast predicts that Monday will be the best weather day of the winter, with ideal weather conditions. However, Tuesday is expected to be the opposite with increasing winds throughout the day.
For central Las Vegas, President’s Day will be sunny with a high near 68 and calm winds. In contrast, Tuesday will see a high wind watch for the entire region, with southwest winds of 30-40 mph and gusts up to 65 mph. This could cause downed trees and power lines, blowing dust, and widespread power outages. Travel will be difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles. The Spring Mountains and the Mojave Desert north of Interstate 15 are expected to experience the highest velocity winds.
In Las Vegas, the Tuesday high will be near 71 with winds of 15-25 mph in the afternoon, gusting to 38 mph. Blowing dust is possible, mostly after 3 p.m. There is also a slight chance of rain showers after 10 p.m., possibly mixing with snow after 3 a.m. on Wednesday. Winds overnight into Wednesday could reach 55 mph in the Las Vegas Valley.
After the storm moves east, temperatures for the rest of the week are expected to be below normal. It is important to stay updated with the latest weather information and take appropriate precautions during the high wind watch to ensure safety.
