LAS VEGAS – Court documents show a Santa Fe man convicted of drug possession and trafficking was arrested in Las Vegas after hiding in a bush.
Larry A. Lujan, 42, was detained after running and hiding in a bush outside the City Of Las Vegas Fire Department on Aug. 9, according to an affidavit.
An LVPD officer asked Lujan why he was hiding. According to the affidavit, Lujan said, “I was just sitting down.” Lujan was arrested after an officer discovered he had a warrant.
Three bags containing crack cocaine, fentanyl, and cannabis were found near Lujan’s hiding. Police found 39 foil-wrapped crack cocaine chunks and 53 fentanyl pills.
Lujan was arrested and accused of drug trafficking and tampering with evidence.
Lujan faces drug possession charges in Santa Fe County. In May, a probation officer arrested Lujan on an active warrant and recovered fentanyl tablets and methamphetamine.
Lujan’s criminal history in New Mexico dates back to 2001 when he pleaded no contest to theft and drug offenses.
Since 2001, Lujan has pled guilty to various offenses in at least eight cases, including felons possessing a firearm, drug trafficking, assault, and criminal damage to property.
Judge Christian Montao set Lujan’s bond at $50,000 cash on Aug. 12.
Lujan’s preliminary hearing is on Aug. 25 in San Miguel. Until this writing, he was at SMCDC.
