Reno, NV – A Sparks resident, Robert Rosales-Barrios, 57, has been sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 58 years for multiple counts of child sexual abuse.
Rosales-Barrios was convicted of 13 charges, including lewdness with a child under the age of 14 and secretly recording the abuse. The charges stemmed from incidents involving a victim who was 11 years old at the time.
The victim reported the abuse to authorities in 2022, leading to an investigation by the Reno Police Department. During the investigation, detectives discovered that Rosales-Barrios had recorded many of the acts of abuse on his cell phone.
The Washoe County District Attorney’s Office emphasized the severity of the crimes and the lasting impact on the victim. The repeated nature of the abuse, coupled with the invasion of privacy caused by the recordings, significantly aggravated the offense.
