Suspect in Armed Armored Truck Robbery Arrested in Texas, Returned to Nevada

A 29-year-old man is facing federal charges in connection with the armed robbery of an armored truck outside a Las Vegas bank in July.

Court records state that Devonte Devon Jackson appeared in federal court Thursday after being accused of stealing approximately $327,620 at gunpoint from an armored truck in the 9800 block of West Charleston Avenue near South Hualapai Way on July 16.

Authorities said Jackson was arrested on July 29 in Centerville, Texas, by Texas State Troopers with assistance from the FBI. He was booked into McLennan County jail in Waco, Texas, on state charges of robbery with the use of a deadly weapon and coercion with force. He was later extradited back to Nevada.

Federal prosecutors have charged Jackson with one count of interference with commerce by robbery and one count of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. A jury trial is set to begin on October 20. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison for the robbery charge and a mandatory consecutive seven-year sentence for the firearm offense.

Records show Jackson has a prior conviction connected to a 2018 armored truck robbery involving $14,000. In that case, he entered an Alford plea in 2021 to conspiracy to commit robbery and prohibited firearm ownership, resulting in a three-year probation sentence.

The earlier case involved a Loomis money transport vehicle outside an east valley fast-food restaurant, where police said DNA linked Jackson to a firearm carried by the truck’s security guard.
