A 17-year-old motorcyclist lost his life in a tragic accident on the 215 Beltway in Las Vegas on Thursday. The Nevada State Police identified the victim as Isaiah Banuelos.
The incident occurred west of the Aviary Way overpass, between Aliante Parkway and Decatur Boulevard. According to police reports, Banuelos was traveling westbound at a high speed, weaving through traffic and splitting lanes.
As traffic ahead began to slow down, Banuelos applied the brakes, causing the motorcycle to overturn and eject him. He then collided with the right rear of a Dodge Ram pickup truck. The impact caused the truck to rotate before coming to a controlled stop on the left shoulder.
The driver of the Dodge Ram remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. Sadly, Banuelos was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Nevada State Police Highway Patrol – Traffic Homicide Unit is currently investigating the crash. This marks the 47th fatal crash investigated by the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Southern Command in 2024, resulting in 55 fatalities to date.
The authorities remind the public that the fatality data for 2024 is preliminary and subject to change based on final investigation and coroner reports.
