A woman was found deceased at the Burning Man festival on Sunday, August 25, 2024, casting a somber shadow over the opening day of the event.
The Pershing County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the incident at approximately 11:37 a.m. by Burning Man Emergency Dispatch. Upon arrival, deputies confirmed the death of the female participant. The cause of death is currently under investigation and her identity has been withheld pending notification of her next of kin.
The Burning Man Project released an official statement expressing condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
