NEVADA – The Washoe County District Attorney’s Office has announced the sentencing of 21-year-old Robert Benner in connection with a rape case. Benner has been sentenced to up to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to attempted sexual assault.
Initially facing two counts of sexual assault, Benner entered into a plea bargain that allowed him to plead guilty to two counts of attempted sexual assault, a decision agreed upon by both victims involved in the case.
According to prosecutors, Benner sexually assaulted a 16-year-old whom he was dating in 2021, and in 2022, he sexually assaulted a 20-year-old woman. In both instances, the victims repeatedly asked Benner to stop, but their pleas were ignored.
Benner will be eligible for parole after serving 16 years of his prison sentence.
