Gardnerville Explosion Caused by Crack Sealing Hot Pot Injured 4 Persons

MINDEN, Nev. (NV, Globe) – A car explosion in Gardnerville on Tuesday morning injured four persons.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, six construction workers were patching asphalt on West Cottage Loop approximately 11:38 a.m. when a car exploded, injuring four workers.
One of the employees was sent to the hospital in a life-flight, while others were brought to local hospitals for treatment.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the explosion was brought on by a crack-sealing hot pot installed on a trailer that had malfunctioned.
All four victims who were transported to the hospital had burns.
West Cottage Loop will be blocked for an undetermined amount of time as investigators, including OSHA, work to discover the cause of the explosion.
