NEVADA – Governor Joe Lombardo has announced a state of emergency in response to the severe weather conditions affecting several counties in northern Nevada. The inclement weather has caused heavy rainfall and flooding, resulting in significant damage to various infrastructures in Churchill, Douglas, and Lyon counties. Unfortunately, the situation is expected to worsen, with more flooding and damage anticipated throughout the region.
The governor’s declaration of emergency aims to provide affected counties with federal assistance to help them repair damages and safeguard their communities from the ongoing storm. Churchill, Lyon, and Douglas counties will be eligible for state and federal resources to support their efforts.
In a statement, Governor Lombardo emphasized the need for all Nevadans to take precautions and heed local guidance to stay safe during this challenging time. The state of emergency may also be expanded to include additional affected counties and tribal nations if conditions worsen.
