Incline Village, NV – Incline High School will be closed on Tuesday, March 14, due to a natural gas leak. North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District (NLTFPD) and Washoe County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) responded to the school at 7:45 a.m. this morning after receiving reports of a gas smell. Although no gas was detected inside the building, high levels of gas were found in multiple locations on the roof, making it difficult for crews to locate the source of the leak due to heavy snow.
For safety reasons, the natural gas was turned off to the structure and all classes were canceled for the day. Students who ride the bus were transported home, while those who drove were dismissed to drive themselves. Families were notified of the closure via email from the school’s principal, Tierney Cahill.
At this time, it is unclear whether classes will resume on Wednesday, March 15. The areas adjacent to the high school remain safe, and authorities are continuing to investigate the source of the gas leak.
