NEVADA – The Washoe County District Attorney’s Office said Friday that a probation violation led to the discovery of a drug used for date rape, and the defendant was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
The district attorney’s office said that Jeremy Robert Daniels, who is 47, must serve at least 42 months in prison before he can be released on parole.
The Reno Police Department looked into a report of domestic violence and found Daniels guilty of trying to own a gun in June 2020 illegally, the district attorney’s office said. He was given a prison sentence of up to 5 years and put on probation.
The district attorney’s office said that Daniels didn’t meet with his probation officer, and a follow-up investigation found that he had a lot of a drug used for date rape.
Daniels admitted to trying to sell more than 100 grams of a Schedule I controlled substance in October 2022.
Deputy District Attorney Michael Vieta-Kabell asked for a prison sentence at Daniels’ sentencing. He said it was necessary because the date rape drug was dangerous and Daniels had a history of breaking the law.
