NEVADA – The York Fire, now spanning 77,000 acres with 0% containment, rages through the delicate Joshua Tree forest in the Mojave National Preserve.
Federal, state, and local firefighting teams, including Clark County Fire Department and BLM, are battling the inferno, but challenging conditions like high winds and hot temperatures have fueled dangerous fire whirls.
The blaze has slowed its progress towards Nipton and Searchlight, but authorities remain vigilant as winds may shift.
So far, no evacuations have been issued, but the fire’s remote location poses challenges for containment.
The firefighting effort involves over 260 personnel, aiming to control the devastating spread of flames across the ecologically sensitive area.
