NEVADA – The Mike O’Callaghan–Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge will have its northbound and southbound lanes closed every day for five days so workers can inspect the bridge, the Nevada Department of Transportation said Thursday.
Monday through Wednesday, between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., the outside southbound lane over the bridge will be closed. Then, between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. every Wednesday through Friday, the outside lane of the northbound lanes will close. During the time that the northbound lanes are closed, the sidewalk will also be closed.
Federal law says that bridges must be checked every two years. The steel-and-concrete arch bridge, which is 1900 feet long and 890 feet tall, opened to traffic in October 2010.
Most bridges in Nevada, including those that are kept up by cities and counties, are checked by NDOT every two years.
