NEVADA – Following an officer-involved incident early Thursday morning, several downtown Reno roadways are temporarily closed.
Officers and Reno Justice Court bailiffs arrived to the area shortly after 7:15 a.m. on a complaint of an unidentified armed person firing bullets near the Riverwalk and movie theater around Riverside and Sierra.
Authorities said the victim was shot near Wingfield Park and was brought to a neighboring hospital with unknown injuries.
The investigation spans one entire block.
Evidence markers were set on both the north and south sides of the river, from Sierra Street to Arlington Avenue.
“Started along the Riverwalk by the theater down there, and then moved over here to the park,” Reno Police Officer Stephen Greenlee adds.
Aside from the subject, no one was hurt, and there is no threat to the public at this time, according to police.
According to Reno Police, the investigation will be turned over to Sparks Police as part of the Washoe County Regional Officer-Involved Shooting Protocol.
