Sparks Police Located a Stolen Vehicle at Oddie Blvd.

SPARKS, Nev. (775 Times, NV Globe)- Sparks Police Department officers discovered a stolen motor vehicle in the 2200 block of Oddie Boulevard on November 28th, 2022, at around 2022 hours. The vehicle, a 1998 Honda CRV, fled the scene while authorities attempted to determine whether it was occupied. Officers tried a traffic stop around 2033 hours, but the vehicle fled. Officers momentarily chased the vehicle, however around 2034 hours, the driver and only occupant failed to handle a minor curve near the 2300 block of E. 9th Street, just west of Silverado Boulevard, and collided with another vehicle at the junction. The stolen vehicle then turned into a yard on the south side of E. 9th Street, where it collided with a parked vehicle. The vehicle then went through a rod iron fence, struck some bushes, and rolled at least once before coming to rest in the front yard of an empty house.
The driver, identified as 28-year-old Reno resident Miguel Vargas-Cortez, was cooperative following the collision and was apprehended without incident. The truck also contained a stolen weapon. Vargas-Cortez was charged with the following:
Possession of a stolen motor vehicle, possession of a stolen firearm, evading a police officer, possession of a firearm by a banned person, driving with a revoked license, reckless driving, and possession of drug paraphernalia are all offenses.
