RENO, Nev. (775 Times, NV Globe) – The Food Bank of Northern Nevada is encouraging supporters to volunteer for a couple of hours during the Christmas break to sort and pack food donations.

The Food Bank has received thousands of pounds of food throughout the holiday food drive season and is anxious to distribute those gifts.

Volunteer sessions are now available for families in the afternoons and nights from December 28 to January 6. Children aged 6 and above are allowed to assist with their parents.

Volunteers will sift contributions, examine them for damage, categorize them, and package them up. These funds will subsequently be delivered to the more than 150 partner agencies located within the 90,000 square mile service region.

With over 130,000 individuals serviced each month, the charity is still experiencing record numbers of people in need. Volunteers can sign up for sessions at fbnn.org on their own.

There is now available on numerous days between 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. or the 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. session.

All sorting sessions will take place at the Food Bank of Northern Nevada warehouse, which is situated at 550 Italy Drive, just off USA Parkway.
