The Reno Police Department Warns About Rooftop Solar Scams
NEVADA – The Reno Police Department has warned residents about possible solar panel installation scams on rooftops.
According to the local authorities, scammers tell victims they would receive solar perks that are not included in the residential rooftop solar contract.
Swindlers’ pitches for residential rooftop solar sometimes include false assurances that customers will never again have to pay for energy.
The police department further notes that while you are under contract with a utility company to use their services, you will always receive an energy bill from that company.
Although installing solar panels on your home’s roof may lessen your monthly energy bill, you will still receive a charge from your utility company nonetheless.
It is imperative that homeowners carefully study the contract for solar panels installed on their roofs before signing anything.
