Two Arrested in Connection with Drug-Endangered Child Investigation in Northern Nevada

NEVADA – Two individuals have been arrested in connection with a drug-endangered child investigation in northern Nevada. The investigation was carried out by the Nevada State Police, Tri-NET Narcotic Task Force, and the Carson City Sheriff’s Office. The Tri-NET Narcotic Task Force is made up of members of the Nevada State Police, Investigation Division, Carson City Sheriff’s Office, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, and the Nevada Counterdrug Program.
According to authorities, Tyler Amirr and Sabrina Welch were apprehended during a traffic stop on August 25, along with two young children. Amirr was detained due to an active misdemeanor warrant. During the traffic stop, illegal drugs (Methamphetamine and Fentanyl) and drug paraphernalia were discovered inside the vehicle and around items used by the children.
Tri-NET detectives were able to obtain a search warrant for the suspects’ residence. Inside the residence, detectives found multiple items of drug paraphernalia and illegal drugs, some of which were within reach of the children who lived there.
Amirr and Welch were arrested for felony child abuse/neglect with a bail set at $40,000, possession of a controlled substance with a bail set at $2,500 and possession of drug paraphernalia with a bail set at $1,000.
