LAS VEGAS, NV — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) has apprehended a suspect following a series of violent attacks at a busy shopping complex near the intersection of East Sahara Avenue and North Nellis Boulevard. The incident, which occurred midday Friday, May 8, left an ambulance damaged and shoppers shaken, though no injuries were reported.

The Rampage: From Stabbing Attempt to Vehicle Attack

According to police reports, the chaos began just after 11:40 AM in a business parking lot.

  • Attempted Stabbing: The suspect exited a vehicle and targeted an individual in front of a grocery store—later identified by witnesses as a Smith’s. The victim was able to flee the scene safely and was not harmed.

  • Ambulance Strike: Following the failed stabbing attempt, the suspect returned to their vehicle and drove to another section of the parking lot near a Bank of America. There, the suspect used their car to repeatedly ram a parked ambulance.

  • The Damage: Photos from the scene showed the ambulance with significant front-end damage. Security personnel remained on-site while the bank was temporarily shuttered following the incident.

The Takedown

Responding officers arrived at the scene and confronted the individual in the parking lot.

  • Non-Lethal Force: Police successfully utilized an electronic control device (Taser) to subdue the suspect and take him into custody.

  • No Reported Injuries: In a statement, LVMPD confirmed that despite the high potential for tragedy, no injuries were reported among civilians, medical personnel, or responding officers.

The identity of the suspect has not yet been released, and an investigation into the motive behind the rampage is ongoing.
