LAS VEGAS, NV — An armed suspect was shot and killed by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers in North Las Vegas late Thursday evening following a high-speed vehicle pursuit that tracked across multiple valley transit corridors.

The violent tactical termination concluded a highly volatile public safety hazard that disrupted commuter lines for several hours as crime scene technicians processed multiple scenes.

The Strip Footprint to the North Valley

The initial emergency sequence began at approximately 5:35 PM near the Las Vegas Strip, near the intersection of Flamingo Road and Linq Lane. Uniformed patrol units spotted a vehicle that had been formally flagged as stolen. When officers attempted to execute a localized felony traffic stop, the vehicle accelerated aggressively, fleeing the scene.

During the subsequent multi-jurisdictional pursuit, the stolen vehicle drove into oncoming traffic lanes multiple times, narrowingly missing several head-on collisions and forcing multiple civilian motorists off the roadway. Metro Captain Ryan Wiggins briefed reporters near West Carey Avenue and North Commerce Street, noting that the driver exhibited an absolute disregard for public safety throughout the flight path.

Foot Pursuit and Tactical Termination

The high-speed pursuit officially terminated in the 500 block of Miller Avenue in North Las Vegas, where the disabled stolen vehicle ground to a halt. Three occupants immediately breached the vehicle doors, fleeing into the surrounding residential neighborhood on foot to evade containment lines.

Officers initiated immediate foot pursuits, cornering one adult male suspect. According to the department’s preliminary internal brief, the fleeing suspect was actively armed with a handgun. He repeatedly ignored multiple loud, verbal commands issued by pursuing officers to drop the weapon. Citing an imminent threat to life, officers discharged their duty firearms, striking the suspect. Medical teams rushed to the scene, but the suspect succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on the asphalt. The remaining two suspects were successfully taken into custody nearby without further gunfire.
