RED FLAGS: Titus, Lee, Horsford Vote Against Condemning Socialism as DSA Pushes to Abolish Police, Senate

Nevada Democrat Reps. Dina Titus, Susie Lee and Steven Horsford voted Tuesday against a House resolution condemning socialism and explicitly denouncing the Democratic Socialists of America, joining the overwhelming majority of House Democrats in refusing what Republicans framed as one of the easiest votes Congress could possibly take.
H. Res. 1490 passed the House 220-192, with only eight Democrats crossing party lines to support it. The resolution condemned “socialism in all its forms,” singled out the DSA and reaffirmed support for the SAVE America Act and citizen-only elections. Democrat leaders argued the election provisions turned the resolution into a partisan trap. Republicans saw something simpler: given a chance to condemn socialism, most Democrats still found a reason to vote no.
For Titus, Lee and Horsford, that “no” vote comes as the DSA’s own 2026 platform reads less like Scandinavian social democracy and more like a demolition permit for the American political system.
The DSA program calls for fully abolishing the police and prison system, restoring voting rights to incarcerated criminals, providing universal health care that includes gender-affirming care, establishing universal rent control and “defunding” the Department of War. It advocates abolishing ICE, granting amnesty to immigrants regardless of legal status and ending visa caps and quotas.
Then it gets crazier.
The DSA wants to abolish the United States Senate, eliminate the Electoral College and replace both the president and Supreme Court with bodies selected by and subordinate to Congress. Its platform also calls for public ownership of America’s largest corporations and essential industries. This is not an NRCC caricature assembled in a campaign war room. It is the socialist organization’s own published agenda.
And Nevada’s three House Democrats still could not vote for the resolution condemning it.
“Spineless Dina Titus, Susie Lee, and Steven Horsford could not bring themselves to condemn the failed, freedom-crushing ideology that has starved nations, destroyed economies, and empowered dictators,” NRCC Spokesman Christian Martinez said. “Anyone this weak has no business representing Nevadans.”
The vote is particularly combustible for Lee, whose suburban Las Vegas district is once again among the seats expected to decide control of the House. Republicans are already trying to turn NV-03 into a referendum on whether Lee’s carefully cultivated centrist image can survive the increasingly socialist politics emerging from her national party.
Recent polling suggests the label remains dangerous. A July Washington Post-Ipsos poll found 55 percent of Americans would not consider voting for a democratic socialist for president, compared with 39 percent who would. A separate August YouGov survey found socialism underwater nationally, with 43 percent holding an unfavorable view and 31 percent favorable.
“Americans overwhelmingly reject socialism, but Susie Lee refuses to do the same,” RNC Spokesperson Nick Poche said. “Nevadans will never support a far-left hack like Susie Lee who sides with the lunatics pushing open borders, higher taxes, and a free-for-all for prisoners and illegal immigrants.”
Nevada has already moved sharply away from the political assumptions Democrats once treated as permanent, electing Joe Lombardo governor in 2022 and backing Donald Trump in 2024.
Titus, Lee and Horsford were handed a chance to put daylight between themselves and the socialist left.
Instead, when the red flag went up, all three voted no.
