The Epoch Times Releases “The 2nd Lab,” New Documentary Studying Illegal Biological Laboratories in California and Nevada

NEW YORK—Today, The Epoch Times, an independent media organization, announced the release of “The 2nd Lab,” an original documentary studying a suspected illegal biological laboratory in Las Vegas, Nevada. In addition to exploring the second lab in a quiet Las Vegas neighborhood, the film studies the connections to a first lab containing vials labeled HIV, malaria, Ebola, and other pathogens in a California warehouse and the Chinese national with links to both locations. It is especially timely amid an ongoing FBI investigation.

“The 2nd Lab” will premiere online this Wednesday, September 23rd at 6 pm ET. The documentary will be free to watch with a registration for 48 hours. It can be accessed here.

As federal authorities investigate the matter, the Epoch Times documentary addresses the questions that remain unanswered: Where did the biological materials originate? According to a congressional report, Chinese national Jia Bei Zhu oversaw both labs. Sentenced last month, Zhu was a wanted fugitive from Canada with a $330 million Canadian dollar judgment against him for stealing American intellectual property. The Chinese citizen was also a top official at a Chinese government-controlled company with links to military-civil fusion entities.

In unprecedented detail, The Epoch Times takes viewers on a journey from reports of a California-based biological lab in 2022 to the house cleaner’s Las Vegas discovery in 2025 and the federal investigation that followed. The documentary also connects the dots to Zhu and China, asking what was really behind the two labs.
