LAS VEGAS, NV — A 34-year-old pedestrian died early Thursday morning after being struck and run over by a full-size pickup truck making a turn from a stop sign, marking the 95th traffic-related death investigated by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in 2026.

The deadly incident—documented under LVMPD Event # LLV261000030588 by the department’s Collision Investigation Section and reported by the Las Vegas Sun—occurred at approximately 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at the intersection of East Alto Avenue and North Marion Drive in the northeast valley.

Emergency medical personnel from the Clark County Fire Department responded to 911 reports of a pedestrian trapped beneath a vehicle, but the victim sustained catastrophic traumatic injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The collision closed the neighborhood intersection for several hours as fatal collision investigators mapped tire marks, surveyed roadway lighting, and inspected the pickup truck’s turning radius.

Pre-Dawn Turn from Stop Sign Turns Tragic

According to evidence gathered by fatal crash reconstruction detectives, the 34-year-old pedestrian was walking westbound across North Marion Drive inside a marked pedestrian crosswalk on the north side of the intersection.

At the same time, a 2014 Ram 1500 was stopped facing eastbound on East Alto Avenue at the posted stop sign.

The 48-year-old driver initiated a eastbound-to-northbound left-or-right turn onto Marion Drive into pre-dawn darkness.

As the truck turned onto Marion Drive, the front of the vehicle collided with the pedestrian in the roadway.

The impact knocked the pedestrian to the asphalt, where the vehicle subsequently rolled over the victim before the driver brought the truck to a complete stop.

The driver immediately remained at the scene, called for emergency services, and cooperated with investigating patrol officers.

Field sobriety tests administered by traffic officers confirmed the driver showed no indications of alcohol or chemical impairment.

The string of deaths highlights recurring safety vulnerabilities along valley roadways, particularly during dawn, dusk, and nighttime hours when reduced natural lighting combines with wide roadway turning radiuses and high-profile truck front ends.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the 34-year-old victim’s identity once formal next-of-kin notifications have concluded.

The collision remains under official review by the LVMPD Collision Investigation Section.
