Sparks Police Shoot and Kill an Armed Guy, Says Authorities

Officers shoot and kill an armed guy in front of the Sparks Police Department. An investigation is underway after an armed man was shot and killed by cops outside the Sparks Police Department early Tuesday morning.
Authorities claim that immediately before 3 a.m. On Oct. 18, a Sparks Police Department officer came upon an armed guy who had shot his handgun outside the station, which is situated at 1701 E.Prater Way. After many hours of negotiating, authorities shot the guy after he charged at the policemen on the site and discharged his gun a second time.
Officers tried to save the man’s life, but he died on the spot.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed.
Authorities say this is an isolated incident and there are no public safety concerns. They also said that all Sparks Police Department employees were not hurt. The front desk will be closed until further notice.
A portion of the area surrounding the Sparks Police Department is shut down during the investigation.
Officers and deputies with the Reno Police Department and Washoe County Sheriff’s Office were on scene as well. The Reno Police Department will take over the investigation as part of the regional officer-involved shooting protocol.
Authorities claim that because of this rare event, there are no threats to public safety. They also stated that no Sparks Police Department officers were injured. Until further notice, the front desk will be closed.
During the investigation, a portion of the area surrounding the Sparks Police Department is closed off.
Reno Police Department and Washoe County Sheriff’s Office officers and deputies were also there. As part of the regional officer-involved shooting process, the Reno Police Department will take over the investigation.
