The Lake Tahoe Basin Has Been Issued a Winter Storm Warning
NEVADA- A winter storm warning has been issued for the Lake Tahoe Basin by the National Weather Service.
The watch will go into place at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30, and will run until 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 2.
The National Weather Service predicts 10 to 16 inches of snow for the broader Tahoe area, with up to 2 feet likely above 7,000 feet, with the greatest quantities falling along the Sierra crest.
Winds in the valleys might reach 45 mph, with gusts exceeding 100 mph atop the Sierra ridges. Strong winds might damage trees or cause power outages.
Mountain travel may be difficult to impossible at times, affecting morning and evening commutes.
The greatest snowfall rates are forecast on Thursday, with spells of whiteout conditions possible due to the combination of heavy snow and wind.
