NEVADA – As the new year approaches, local non-profits remind the community of the services available.
According to leaders of the non-profit Veterans Guest House in Reno, many people get sick, end up in unexpected situations, or require extra medical attention during the holidays. The guest home provides a safe place for veterans and their families to remain while undergoing medical treatment, regardless of insurance.
This non-profit organization was founded in response to the increasing demand for overnight lodging for veterans seeking medical treatment in the Reno-Sparks area. Sylvia DuBeau, CEO of Veterans Guest House, stated,
Veterans Guest House is a safe, free location for people to stay with veterans and family members who are in town for medical treatment. So, whether it’s long-term care, for example, for cancer treatment, or sudden, or even planned, doctor’s appointments.
Veterans Guest House is attempting to reach even more remote regions such as Carson City, Ely, and even Lassen, California. To stay, all that is required is a military affiliation and a medical need, which can include dentistry, chiropractic, mental health, or anything else related to one’s well-being.
While overnight stays have decreased significantly, Veterans Guest House remains open and welcomes anyone in need. They also assist travelers by assisting with petrol cards and other modes of transportation.
Reno’s Veterans Guest House is located at 880 Locust St.
