Teenager Arrested in Connection with Northwest Las Vegas Shooting

LAS VEGAS – Las Vegas police announced on Wednesday that a 15-year-old has been taken into custody in connection with a shooting that occurred earlier this month in northwest Las Vegas.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the incident took place on May 9, just before 4 p.m., in the 8900 block of Jamie Lee Avenue, near West Elkhorn Road and North Durango Drive. Two children were shot during the incident.

Previously, 17-year-old Hakeem Collette was identified as a suspect and was facing multiple charges, including two counts of battery with a deadly weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm, two counts of attempted murder, one count of possession of a gun by a prohibited person, and two counts of conspiracy to commit murder in relation to the shooting. Collette had already been certified as an adult for other charges and was already in the Clark County Detention Center.

The latest development reveals that the 15-year-old boy, who was already in the Juvenile Detention Center on unrelated charges, is now facing charges in connection with the shooting as well. The charges include two counts of battery with a deadly weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm, two counts of attempted murder, and two counts of conspiracy to commit murder.
