
Inmate’s Death at Clark County Detention Center Under Investigation

LAS VEGAS – Tragic news emerged as authorities confirmed the death of an inmate at the Clark County Detention Center. Keonte Carter, a 25-year-old inmate, was pronounced dead on May 23 at 1:45 p.m. at University Medical Center. The Clark County coroner’s office reported that Carter was found in an unknown condition at the detention center, and his cause and manner of death are yet to be determined as of Wednesday morning.
Details regarding the specific charge for which Carter was incarcerated have not been immediately disclosed.
The Metropolitan Police Department, responsible for the oversight of the jail, issued a statement on Tuesday acknowledging Carter’s passing at the detention center. He was discovered around 1 p.m., although no further information was provided by authorities.
In response to inquiries, Metro clarified that they do not release press statements when an individual in custody at CCDC (Clark County Detention Center) passes away due to suicide, a medical incident, or natural causes. Investigations are conducted to ascertain the circumstances surrounding such cases.
