Union Files Lawsuits Against Nevada Governor Over Collective Bargaining Rights

NEVADA – The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) has taken legal action against Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo, alleging violations of state employee collective bargaining rights.
The union asserts that these rights, protected by state law under NRS 288, have been infringed upon.
The dispute centers around the governor’s veto of a 3% cost-of-living raise agreement in 2021, which had been approved by the State Board of Examiners.
This veto has prompted AFSCME to demand the immediate release of retroactive pay to affected workers.
