Vegas Icon Finally Awakens: Fontainebleau Set for Grand Opening

By TheNevadaGlobeStaff, December 13, 2023 9:21 am

Las Vegas, Nevada – After more than a decade looming over the Las Vegas skyline, the Fontainebleau is finally poised to open its doors to the public. This 67-story, blue-tinted behemoth on the north Strip prepares to unveil its opulent offerings with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

But the real party starts later that night, with an invitation-only grand opening bash for celebrities and other A-listers. Doors fling open for the general public just before midnight, marking the start of a new era in Vegas luxury.

Early Bird Gets the View (and Parking):

  • No self-parking available at the Fontainebleau on opening night.
  • Early birds can snag free parking at the Las Vegas Convention Center West Hall lot (south of the resort) on a first-come, first-served basis.

A Dream Realized:

  • The $3.7 billion Fontainebleau is the brainchild of Jeffrey Soffer, who bought the iconic Miami Beach hotel in 2005 and dreamt of a Vegas sibling.
  • Construction began in 2007, but the 2009 economic crash abruptly halted progress with the building roughly 75% complete.
  • Years of financial woes, changing ownership, and revised visions followed, before Soffer and Koch Real Estate Investments finally revived the project in 2021.

A New Jewel on the Strip:

  • The Fontainebleau boasts 3,644 luxurious guest rooms and suites, offering breathtaking views of the iconic Las Vegas skyline.
  • Michelin-starred marvels and casual bites cater to every culinary craving.
  • The gaming floor promises non-stop action, while the poolside paradise is pure Vegas glitz.
  • A calendar bursting with epic shows and dazzling entertainment awaits.

Mark your calendars and prepare for Vegas glamour redefined. The Fontainebleau era begins tonight!
