Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers arrested a 16-year-old juvenile, Deandre Williams, after a pursuit involving a stolen Kia last November. According to an arrest report, nine LVMPD officers were involved in the incident, which began with a report of a stolen vehicle.
Initial Contact and Pursuit
On November 26th, 2023, a marked patrol unit received a call regarding a stolen 2019 Kia Sorrento. The vehicle was located using a license plate reader and LVMPD’s air unit. Officers attempted to stop the Kia in a commercial parking lot, but the vehicle fled, leaving one juvenile suspect behind.
During the ensuing pursuit, the stolen Kia reportedly struck another vehicle while evading police. The remaining occupants then abandoned the damaged Kia and fled into a nearby apartment complex. A second suspect was apprehended with the assistance of the air unit.
Williams’ Arrest
The arrest report states that Williams, initially pursued on foot, was observed discarding a handgun before being taken into custody. Investigators found evidence within the Kia suggesting it had been intentionally hotwired.
Williams declined to speak with police and was taken to Clark County Juvenile Hall.
