Las Vegas Police Shoot Suspect During Home Invasion Response

Las Vegas police officers shot a 41-year-old man, Matthew Tindall, following a reported home invasion in the northwest valley on Friday morning.

Responding to a Distress Call

Officers were dispatched to a residence on the 200 block of North Valley Drive, near Lake Mead Boulevard and Rancho Drive, at approximately 9:42 am after receiving a frantic call reporting, “He’s going to kill us!”

Confronting the Threat

Upon arrival, Officer Miguel Rodriguez met with the residents who confirmed that Tindall had broken into their home armed with a weapon. The residents managed to fend off Tindall by throwing furniture at him, forcing him to flee into the backyard.

Escalating Situation

Tindall eventually moved to a neighboring residence, where he became involved in a physical altercation with another resident.

Shots Fired

A second officer arrived at the scene equipped with a less-lethal weapon. However, the situation escalated when Tindall dropped the knife he was carrying but then attempted to pick it back up. Fearing for the safety of the residents, Officer Rodriguez discharged his firearm, striking Tindall five times.

Tindall Injured, Investigation Underway

Medical aid was immediately provided to Tindall. This marks the first non-fatal officer-involved shooting in Las Vegas this year. However, it’s the sixth shooting overall in 2024 compared to only three at this point in 2023.

Charges Filed

Tindall faces a series of charges, including two counts of attempted murder with a deadly weapon, home invasion, battery, and resisting an officer.

The incident remains under investigation.
