TODAY! AB416 Amendment 404: Why We Must Demand a NO Vote!

Nevada’s AB416 Amendment 404 is a legislative travesty, cloaked in the guise of protecting library access but poised to erode parental rights, community standards, and the innocence of our children. This bill, which prohibits schools and libraries from restricting access to materials based on content, is a direct assault on conservative values. Here are the top five reasons every conservative should oppose it and why our public servants must vote no.

Top Five Reasons to Oppose AB416

Eviscerates Parental Authority: AB416 restricts challenges to obscene library materials to parents with children enrolled in the specific school district. Taxpayers, grandparents, and community members, stakeholders all, are silenced. Only a court petition can remove materials deemed obscene, a costly and burdensome process that sidelines parents from protecting their kids.
Nullifies Community Standards: The bill forbids policies limiting library materials based on content, including depictions of sexual acts, masturbation, or sadism, as defined in its own “obscene” criteria. By mandating unfettered access, it dismisses local values, forcing communities to accept materials that clash with their moral framework.
Protects Bureaucrats, Not Kids: AB416 shields librarians, school boards, and volunteers from discipline or dismissal for circulating objectionable materials. Meanwhile, it offers no safeguards for children exposed to explicit content, prioritizing adult job security over student well-being.
Criminalizes Dissent: The bill classifies threats or intimidation against library staff as a Category E felony, a provision that could be weaponized to silence conservative activists. Sharing personal information of school employees in retaliation for allowing access to obscene materials risks felony charges, chilling free speech.
Bypasses Accountability: By requiring court intervention to remove obscene materials, AB416 insulates school and library decisions from public scrutiny. This bureaucratic fortress ensures that explicit content remains accessible, undermining transparency and local control.

Why It Must Not Pass

It’s a progressive power grab, plain and simple, designed to force ideological conformity under the banner of inclusivity.
