
Quick Response Knocks Down Trash Chute Fire at Strip Resort

A fire broke out in a trash chute at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on the Strip early Tuesday afternoon.
Clark County officials reported that dispatchers received calls about the incident shortly after 1:30 p.m. Fire crews arrived within four minutes and located the source inside the resort’s trash chute. The fire was brought under control roughly 20 minutes later.
By about 2:30 p.m., crews were still working to clear smoke from the area. No injuries were reported.
The response involved eight engines, two trucks, two rescues, one heavy rescue unit, one EMS captain, one air resource, one squad, and two battalion chiefs — totaling 55 personnel.
