CONEXPO Health Alert: Measles Exposure Confirmed at Las Vegas Convention Center

The Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) has issued a formal health alert following a confirmed case of rubeola, commonly known as measles, in a visitor who attended the CONEXPO-CON/AGG trade show earlier this month. The individual, an out-of-state resident, was present at the Las Vegas Convention Center during the peak hours of March 6 and March 7, 2026.
Health officials are specifically concerned due to the massive scale of the event, which drew over 130,000 attendees from across the globe. Measles is one of the most highly contagious viral diseases, capable of lingering in the air for up to two hours after an infected person has left the area. While Nevada maintains a relatively high vaccination rate, the SNHD is urging anyone who was at the Convention Center on those dates to review their immunization records and monitor for symptoms through the end of the month.
Symptoms typically appear 7 to 14 days after exposure and include high fever, cough, runny nose, and watery eyes, followed by a characteristic red blotchy rash. “Because this is a high-traffic environment with international travel involved, we are working closely with the CDC to notify secondary jurisdictions,” a Health District spokesperson stated. Residents who suspect they have been infected are advised to contact their healthcare provider before arriving at a clinic to prevent further exposure in waiting rooms.
