Democrats Shut Down DHS Over ICE Despite ICE Already Being Funded, Nevada Pays the Price

Democrats in Washington have decided that if they cannot get their way on ICE, they are willing to torch everything else in sight.

Over the past several days, they have effectively shut down critical emergency services and military operations because their far-left flank demanded a showdown over Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Airports. Disaster response. National security functions. All were dragged into a partisan hostage scenario.

There is just one glaring problem. ICE is already funded for years to come. So, what exactly is the endgame here?

Are Democrats like Susie Lee so hostile to law enforcement that they are willing to kneecap TSA, FEMA, and the Coast Guard in the process? Or did they simply forget that ICE funding was locked in before they decided to pull the pin on this shutdown stunt?

Or maybe this is what it looks like when a party panics. Their activist base is furious. Their approval ratings are sagging. The loudest voices in their coalition demand confrontation at any cost. So, they deliver a shutdown that barely touches ICE but slams into everyone else.

RNC Spokesman Nick Poche put it bluntly, “Democrats are stuck on stupid with this shutdown, which barely impacts ICE but does punish innocent people who work in airports, disaster relief, or the armed forces. Democrat voters hate their elected officials, Democrat elected officials clearly think their voters are stupid, and now Americans have to suffer because of it. If there’s a disaster that FEMA can’t respond to because of their idiotic political games, it will be entirely their fault.”

That is not hyperbole. When DHS operations grind to a halt, it is not abstract. It is TSA agents managing security lines in Las Vegas. It is FEMA coordinating disaster response when wildfire season or flooding hits. It is Coast Guard units safeguarding waterways and supporting national defense missions.

Even Democrat Socialist Dina Titus has admitted the obvious. She voted to help shut down DHS, then went on television and conceded the fallout is hurting TSA, FEMA, the Coast Guard, and Nevada’s tourism driven economy.

While she plays partisan games, Nevadans are left wondering whether Washington is capable of basic governance. Confidence in air travel erodes. Emergency preparedness becomes a bargaining chip. Vital services become leverage.

NRCC Spokesman Christian Martinez did not mince words. “Democrat Socialist Dina Titus helped pull the plug on DHS, then has the audacity to act surprised that Nevada’s tourism economy is taking a hit. She voted for the shutdown knowing full well it would hammer working Nevadans, all to score cheap partisan points with the radical left.”

The American people were told this shutdown was about reining in ICE. Yet ICE remains funded. The only tangible result so far has been collateral damage to agencies that protect travelers, respond to disasters, and support the armed forces.

If there is a hurricane, a wildfire, or a major security threat and the response is delayed because of political brinkmanship, voters will not forget who chose theatrics over stability.

Democrats wanted a fight. What they delivered instead is dysfunction. And Nevada is paying the price.
