OPINION: Parents Who Keep Children in WCSD Schools: You Don’t Give a Damn About Them.

It’s a normal thing for parents to tell their children, “I love you more than anything else in the world.”

But if you’re one of the 60,000 parents who ignore the dangerous and depraved truth about Washoe County Schools, and still send your children there, you have to stop proclaiming your ultimate love to your kids. The reason? It’s not true.

NO parent who demonstrably cares about their child’s physical safety and emotional well-being would entrust them to a school district that has such a long-and-growing callous disregard for children’s lives — YOUR children’s lives.

This week brought the uncovering of still one more WCSD student who died needlessly (a 12 year-old suicide). This boy’s parents trusted that 2 different WCSD schools would keep their son safe from harm and not allow him to be bullied, mocked, and assaulted for months. The parents’ trust was misplaced, as their recently filed lawsuit against WCSD explains.

The lawsuit states that school administrators were well aware of the seriousness of this boy’s bullying situation. WCSD did almost nothing to resolve it, and the suffering child was forced to find his solution in hanging himself.   

As a career educator, I guarantee that boy’s bullying problem was typical of something that a competent and caring principal or superintendent could have resolved in 10 minutes … IF they cared enough about children’s lives to do it.  They didn’t, because they don’t.

This situation begs 2 questions.

• If WCSD operates their schools with the “transparency” they claim, why was this boy’s suicide kept hidden from the public for almost a year?

• Why did our elected School Board members stay silent about this boy’s death and side with WCSD’s corrupt leadership, rather than sharing this incident with the community when it happened?

But this is how the morally broken and dysfunctional WCSD operates: every day – year after year, leaving a trail of victimized children in their wake … children just like yours.

Another victim was a 14 year-old student at a WCSD high school who was stabbed to death by a classmate not long ago. The cause was similar to the previous incident. Over a period of a year, administrators at 2 different WCSD schools this girl attended refused to stop daily group harassment and threats against her.

The girl felt unprotected and believed her only escape from this mental and physical torment was to fight her assailant by herself. The results of this fight were the victim losing her life, and her assailant also “losing” her life to a 50-year prison sentence.

To add just a few more of countless other incidents:

• Numerous Code Red situations (“Imminent loss of life potential”) at local schools where parents are frequently not informed of the emergency situation. When parents are told about them, the schools’ explanations are usually full of lies of omission.

• NO acknowledgement by WCSD that 50% or more of secondary students are using drugs on campus every day.

• Drug-overdose deaths and suicides by WCSD students are consistently unreported and under-reported. Meanwhile, WCSD adamantly refuses to implement or even discuss ANY type of drug-testing program that could keep children safe. Children just like yours.

• Most Alarming 

For well over 20 years, EVERY WCSD high school and most middle schools have had students who are regularly sex-trafficked (up to a dozen or more per school). This is attested to by WCSD employees and police who have worked on this problem for years. The school district’s 60,000 parents trust their children to administrators and school board members who do not even acknowledge that this sex trafficking exists!

It’s a problem that allows pimps and “bottom bitches” to daily chauffeur their WCSD student “employees” to-and-from school. These are girls just like your daughters. These young girls are being recruited in the very same schools your daughters attend. They are drugged, raped, and prostituted, while WCSD’s leaders maintain their moral neutrality and silence – maintaining their income and growing their pensions – as these children’s lives are being destroyed.

Who’s to Blame?

Parents, the blame for the majority of the WCSD Disaster rests primarily on YOU. These problems, and many others, continue for only one reason.

Parents have become so addicted to the 7-10 hours per day of “free” childcare from WCSD that they keep their kids enrolled in their schools: NOT because it’s the best place for their child, but because it’s easier and more convenient for them.

This desire to keep their own daily schedule easier, makes them willing to overlook every negative school statistic and believe every lie administrators and teachers tell them about how “great your kids are doing.” Believing the schools’ lies, parents keep their children in WCSD schools.

• Parents know their kids are receiving little or no education, except for the 10% who are barricaded into the protective cocoon hallways of “Advanced Placement” classes.  Even then, most of those kids choose to hide in the AP classrooms during lunchtime to avoid the threats and dangers lurking in every hallway. But even high-achieving kids risk their safety: getting beaten or robbed at bus stops, being sexually assaulted on school buses, or avoiding the violence in the bathrooms.

Parents, if you give a damn about your children’s futures, you have to quick sticking your heads in the sand and pretending this disastrous and dangerous WCSD situation doesn’t exist.  Believe me, it’s much WORSE than I’ve described.

Why do you think WCSD has numerous rules and policies that threaten the employment of teachers who speak out, and keep parents and the community from doing unannounced and unscripted visits to school campuses?

You have a readily available way to protect your sons and daughters and help rid our county of these un-fixable WCSD schools. You can do this one simple thing.

Disenroll your children immediately and place them in any one of a growing number of affordable, private schooling options. Your kids will be safer. They’ll be free from the toxic moral environment of WCSD schools, including anti-American, Leftist brainwashing by the majority of their teachers.

As a “small” side benefit –  removing your child from WCSD schools and placing them in a private education option will also actually provide them with a quality education.
