OPINION: You Won’t Believe What Lombardo’s Polls Are Saying About 2026 – Is Nevada Ready for Round Two?

This is Part 1 of our 10-part series, “Lombardo’s Nevada Showdown: The Fight for 2026.”

Nevada’s got a problem, folks: after flipping the governor’s seat in 2022, we’re staring down a toss-up race in 2026 where voters are split on whether the state’s heading in the right direction, with economic jitters and federal overreach making everyone nervous. Enter the conflict, as Democratic challengers like Attorney General Aaron Ford gear up to paint Lombardo as too cozy with Trump, while early polls show the governor holding a slim 51% approval rating, per media reports on a July 2025 poll, leaving room for attacks on everything from inflation to immigration.

Lombardo’s solution? He kicked off his reelection bid on September 16, 2025, at Rancho High School, touting teacher raises and veto power as proof he’s the steady hand Nevada needs, according to his campaign announcement on the governor’s website. Credit where it’s due, he flipped a blue seat red in a tough year, showing he can win independents, but to seal 2026, he needs to double down on voter outreach in Washoe County, where margins were razor-thin last time, and highlight how his no-nonsense sheriff background trumps Ford’s legal wrangling, making him the best pick to keep Nevada from sliding into California-style policies. Improve by hitting the trail early with town halls, proving he’s listening on pocketbook issues.

But wait, those vetoes in the 2025 session? They’re a goldmine or a landmine – tune in to Part 2 to see how they could make or break his campaign.
