Nevada GOP Leads the Charge for Election Integrity on ‘Protect the Vote’ Tour

Nevadans deserve a system where it is easy to vote but hard to cheat

As the Nevada Republican Party (NVGOP) Chairman, I am honored that our state is taking part in the Republican National Committee’s (RNC) “Protect the Vote” initiative, especially as Nevada takes center stage in our nation’s most critical election. Nevada is not just a battleground; it is the frontline in the fight to ensure our elections remain secure, transparent, and fair.

The NVGOP and RNC, alongside the Trump Campaign, are committed to fortifying the security of Nevada’s elections. Nevadans deserve a system where it is easy to vote but hard to cheat. To this end, we have committed to ensuring we are doing all that we can to make sure all voters – Republican, Democrat, and/or non-partisan – have confidence in our state’s election system.

One of the key issues we are addressing is the counting of ballots received after Election Day. Democratic Governor Steve Sisolak and legislators in Carson City passed AB 321, a bill that radically changed Nevada’s election law by mandating that every voter on the active voter registration list be sent a mail-in ballot. Although this law has clear guidelines for accepting mail-in ballots post- election, Nevada officials have routinely accepted ballots, up to four days after Election Day, without any postmark at all. This blatant violation of Nevada law undermines election security, as there is no way to determine when these ballots were mailed, posing a significant risk of fraud and illegal ballot counting. The RNC has been hard at work on the legal front to address these violations and uphold the integrity of our election process.

The call for election integrity is not just a partisan cry; it is a demand from the American people. Recent polls show that 75% of Americans, including 69 percent of Black voters and 60 percent of Democrats, support Voter ID requirements. An NPR poll found that 80 percent of Americans favor voter ID laws. Furthermore, 68 percent of voters believe state legislatures, not the federal government, should decide voting rules and regulations. By a 33-point margin, Americans believe that voting is already easy and want reforms to focus on making elections fair and free of voter fraud.

The RNC is actively recruiting thousands of poll watchers and poll workers and filing key lawsuits in pivotal states to address and rectify vulnerabilities in our voting system. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards of fairness and transparency in the electoral process.

Specific to Nevada is the practice of universal mail voting, where all registered “active” voters receive a mail ballot automatically. While only active voters should receive ballots, we are being vigilant to ensure that Nevada does not repeat its history of sending mail ballots to inactive voters. With millions of ballots in the mail each cycle, Nevada must guarantee the security of its election system.

The integrity of our voter rolls is also at stake. Three of Nevada’s counties have over 100 percent voter registration—a clear violation of the law that should be impossible. With universal mail voting, it is critical that Nevada properly maintains its voter lists as required by federal law to ensure that ballots are not compromised. We have taken legal action to address this threat to election integrity.

The numbers speak volumes. Tens of thousands of ballots were received after Election Day in Nevada in 2022—a significant number that can sway elections, especially in a battleground state where margins are often razor-thin. While we pursue every legal avenue to promote election integrity, the NVGOP, RNC and Trump Campaign will have a robust presence on the ground and thousands of great volunteers leading to November. Any election issues will be reported and mitigated in real-time, and this highly effective operation will be scaled up for the general election.

The NVGOP, RNC, and Trump campaign are working tirelessly to protect Nevadans’ vote. The NVGOP was glad to host RNC Chairman Michael Whatley, former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, and former acting U.S. Attorney General Matt Whitaker for a Protect the Vote event and an election integrity volunteer training to showcase our efforts and commitment. We are confident this Protect the Vote initiative to engage and train volunteers will play an important role in ensuring that our elections are fair, accurate, secure, and reflective of the true will of the people. 1. More of the national media should report on this dynamic, (but election integrity is marginalized as a “kook”:issue by much of the media.). Hopefully other states will look at what was done in Nevada.
