2-Year-Old Tragically Dies in Accidental Shooting in Las Vegas Apartment

LAS VEGAS – A 2-year-old child, identified as Jaiangelis Stevenson by the Clark County Coroner’s Office, died in a tragic accident on Sunday night in Las Vegas. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police responded to the home in the 5300 block of East Craig Road at about 6:32 p.m. Sunday in response to a shooting. According to Metro Police, the child accidentally shot himself. Officers found the child suffering from a gunshot wound and he was taken to University Medical Center (UMC) where he was later pronounced dead.
The Eagle Trace Apartments on Craig Road near Nellis was the location where officers responded to a call of shots fired around 6:30 p.m. The investigation by abuse and neglect detectives is ongoing. This incident has left the community in mourning and serves as a tragic reminder of the importance of gun safety, particularly when children are present.
