6 AM Meth-Fueled Shootout on I‑15 Off‑Ramp Exposes Culture of Irresponsibility
By TheNevadaGlobeStaff, June 9, 2025 1:04 pm
Late on the morning of June 5, Nevada State Police responded to reports of a man brandishing a weapon and firing shots while walking on Interstate 15 near the Lake Mead Boulevard on-ramp. At approximately 7:10 a.m., patrol units encountered a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to the hospital in serious condition. Investigators quickly identified Yolanda McCoy as the suspect. Law enforcement apprehended her along with ammunition and approximately 1.4 grams of methamphetamine. She now faces serious charges: attempted murder with a deadly weapon, battery with a deadly weapon, and meth possession.
This incident reflects deeper issues far beyond meth addiction. It underscores the need for tougher drug enforcement, stronger individual responsibility, and community values rooted in law and order. Our highways should not become battlegrounds fueled by narcotics and negligence.
Authorities are urging anyone with more information to contact the Nevada State Police Investigation Division at 702‑668‑3260. When enforcement, accountability, and community engagement align, we can turn heat like this into hopeful change.
