Bail Denied: Suspect in Bellagio Fountain Shooting to Remain Behind Bars

LAS VEGAS, NV — In a major ruling at the Regional Justice Center, District Judge Tierra Jones has officially denied bail for Manuel Ruiz, the 42-year-old accused of fatally shooting two rival YouTubers on the Las Vegas Strip last summer.

The decision comes after a tense hearing where Ruiz’s defense team argued for a $100,000 bond, claiming the defendant acted in self-defense during the June 2024 incident. However, Judge Jones sided with prosecutors, who argued that Ruiz—known online as “Sin City Manny”—intentionally sought out victims Rodney and Tanisha Finley in front of the Fountains of Bellagio to settle a long-standing social media feud.

The Ruling: A Threat to Public Safety

The prosecution’s successful argument hinged on the reckless nature of the crime. Chief Deputy District Attorney Elizabeth Mercer noted that the shooting occurred in a heavily crowded tourist area, stating it was “pure chance” that no bystanders were struck by the gunfire.

Prosecutors also presented evidence of a video Ruiz allegedly recorded prior to the incident, in which he threatened to shoot Rodney Finley. This, combined with the fact that Ruiz reportedly discarded his weapon and clothing before turning himself in a day later, led the court to dismiss the defense’s “panic” and “self-defense” theories.

Ruiz now faces two counts of open murder with a deadly weapon. Prosecutors have already signaled their intent to seek the death penalty as the case moves toward a trial scheduled for later this year.
