Bark-André Furry, a Las Vegas Celebrity Dog, Has Been Sick
LAS VEGAS – Bark-André Furry, a well-known dog in Las Vegas, is sick, according to a post on social media by his owners on Wednesday evening.
According to the post, Bark’s owners noticed he was having trouble moving around and seemed afraid to climb stairs on the first weekend of November. The 14-year-old kept running into things and looked like he had gone blind.
After eye tests showed that he had cataracts, blood tests showed that his sugar levels were high and that he might have liver problems, the post said.
Bark’s owners told his fans that he was going to start taking insulin to help control his blood sugar levels. They also sent out an article from VCA Animal Hospitals that explained what diabetes mellitus is and how insulin treatments can help dogs with it.
Then, in two weeks, Bark-André will go back to the vet for more tests to find out if the problem is really caused by diabetes or if it could be something worse.
Fans of Bark-André, a Jack Russell terrier, rushed to wish him a speedy recovery as soon as the post went up on his Facebook and Instagram pages.
Bark-André Furry, named after NHL player Marc-Andre Fleury, has been well known in the Las Vegas valley for years as a sports-loving therapy dog and an ambassador for the Tyler Robinson Foundation, which was started by Las Vegas band Imagine Dragons and Tyler’s family to help fight the hidden costs of childhood cancer.
